Our Story

Hi, I’m Smriti — a California mom raising my daughter in two worlds I love — one here in the U.S., and one in the heart of India.

When my daughter was born, I went searching for books and toys that reflected both sides of her world — something that could help her celebrate Diwali and Halloween, eat parathas and pancakes, dance to Bollywood and Baby Shark with the same joy.

But here in the U.S., I quickly realized how limited the options were for Indian-inspired books, toys, and gifts — the kind that make culture feel fun and alive for kids.

So I decided to create what I couldn’t find. At Desi Kid Store, you’ll find board books, posters, and playful products that bring Indian stories, festivals, foods, and traditions to life — designed for Indian kids growing up abroad.

Because our children shouldn’t have to choose between cultures. They should be able to celebrate where they come from while embracing where they are — learning about the world, while staying rooted in their own.

Every product here is made with the intention to keep our kids connected, confident, and full of pride in both their homes.
